A lot has happened in 2020

Unless you live on another planet, you must have been affected by the pandemic. For most of us, 2020 is a year to forget, so let's focus on the post-COVID-19 opportunities to start 2021 on the right foot. We can try to classify sectors into 3 groups, those who benefited from the crisis, those who are temporarily impacted but will bounce back, and those who might never recover, at least not under the same format.

  • Winners: Telecom,  eCommerce, Logistic, Health Care, Streaming...
  • Be-backers: Airlines, Hospitality, Restaurants, Transports, Renewable Energies, Distressed Asset Managers...
  • Potential losers: Cinemas, Theme Parks, Theatres, Events Management, Oil and Gas, Real Estate, Luxury...

The above segmentation should be refined by sub-sector though. e.g. If working from home becomes the norm, that will impact restaurants located close to businesses negatively but may favour residential real estate.

For 2021 Q1, VC-A shall focus on 1) renewable energy, 2) payment processing and 3) hedge funds

Looking for investors to develop solar projects in Spain

Through EMBLITAM, our portfolio company, we have identified more than 12GWp of greenfield solar projects ready for development in the kingdom of Spain.
The Spanish Authorities request surety bonds to access connection points.
e.g. For a 500MWp plant, you need to place a €20M surety bond. EMBLITAM's business model consists in providing surety bonds to developers with low credit ratings.

If you have a strong balance sheet and want to monetise it, one way is to issue low-risk surety bonds through EMBLITAM.

Universal Payment Platform

VC-A has teamed up with a PSP

VC-A has reached an agreement with a payment service provider (PSP) to market a comprehensive payment platform.
The Payment Platform can process billions of transactions annually across 146 countries and more than 300 payments types in 126 currencies, including cryptocurrencies.
In addition, the Payment Platform bundles traditional payments types with ticketing and loyalty solutions such as coupons, discounts and other types of rewards.

Funds Management

VC-A has teamed up with Fiduscorp, a financial services entity focusing on corporate and financial structuring, to set up regulated Funds in Malta.

  • Professional Investment' Funds, up to €100M
  • Alternative Investment Funds, for €100M and above.
  • Regulated by the MFSA.

In addition to setting up the Funds, we have solutions to leverage them by monetising financial instruments.

VC-A has got a new website

You may say that it was just about time:

The old site was designed back in 2002.

The new site keeps all the functionalities that that were available, is secured by SSL and is GDPR compliant. VC-A Ltd is also now registered at the Information Commissioner's Office for data privacy matters.

The Sign-Up form is directly linked into our CRM, the VC-A M&A Suite. Whoever registers online is taken through our internal compliance procedure.

It is free to register, but only 1 candidate out of 20 pre-selected applications - e.g. who have passed the CV pre-screening filter - makes it to Associate Director.

In December 2020, we had 37,916 Contacts and 1,181 VC-A Members in our database. We have introduced 109 active leads into the system.
We executed an agreement with Epsilon Research to acquire the code of our VC-A M&A Suite.
Epsilon will still be maintaining the core product but we will own the intellectual property of the source and have the freedom to customise it to our needs.
